Paschal Students' Phones Stolen

December 21st, the Friday before break, was seen to many as the last day of finals.  However, several safety endangering events occured before the last bell rung.

Near the end of the day, some Paschal students were walking in the neighborhood north of campus, when some armed individuals began to demand their phones. The thieves then ran off with the students’ phones, but one ran to Paschal, and was let inside by a student.

The thief then asked to borrow a student’s phone and proceeded to steal it and run away.  Paschal did not go on lockdown because the events happened so fast. The culprit was caught on camera, and some of the robbers have been apprehended.

So what can the student body do to keep safe? First, they can not let anyone in that they do not recognize.  Students who need to get in the building can go to the front and be buzzed in by a faculty number. Second, students can carry their IDs with them at all times.  This doesn’t necessarily mean that students have to wear their id, they can simply put them in their wallet, pocket, or phone case. However, it will help faculty find out who is a student here and who is not.  Third, students can hold on to their phones tightly in the hallways, or simply keep them out of sight. This decreases the chances that someone can run up and snatch their phone.
