The annual Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo (FWSSR) ‘season’ has arrived. From now up until early February, weeks will be packed with animal showings, rodeo events, Midway rides, and Stock Show eats. Aside from all that the FWSSR itself has to offer, it appears that attendees have developed a thriving fashion scene over the years.
Gone are the days when people would just pull out their old blue jeans and dust off their boots. Now FWSSR attire is curated, from local boutiques to vintage stores, the looks vary widely, but are still not what most might consider “functional western wear”. The fashion scene has likely drawn in newcomers to show up and show out in their ‘perfect rodeo ‘fits’ as opposed to the traditional FWSSR crowd who are simply entertained by the good ole Rodeo events.
The FWSSR has become a bigger deal over the years as we’ve observed through increasing attendance, ticket prices, and traffic around town. There have also been many local enhancements, such as the expansion and addition of Dickie’s Arena and the revamped surrounding areas, stretching from Camp Bowie to the Stockyards.
In the world we live in today, everything is ‘glamorized’ and posted on social media, which has likely made huge contributions to the FWSSR’s increasing popularity. Don’t miss out! Get your tickets and start curating your outfits!
