In the past seasons, Paschal has played teams like North Crowley and Euless Trinity. As opposed to playing these 6A powerhouse teams, Paschal will now play teams like South Hills and PolyTech. The best team, based on stats, that Paschal will play, is Arlington Heights. During the regular season last year, they had 7 wins. Heights made it to the playoffs, but lost in the first round to Lake Dallas. Another notable team Paschal will play is O.D. Wyatt, though they also lost in the first round of the playoffs last year. Other than these two teams who had winning records, every team Paschal will play had a losing record last year, which is promising for Paschal.
Paschal is led by elusive junior quarterback Jashuan Thomas, who started on Varsity last year as a sophomore. In addition, the team is led by senior tight end Luke Tevis, who recently committed to Rice. Another player who is looking to have a breakout senior year is running back Maki Gee. On the defensive side, some players to watch include linebacker Tex Shope and cornerback Jace Burton.
Many seniors on the team are thrilled for the upcoming season. Isaac Isgur (Sr.) safety is ready for the switch to 5A, saying he is “excited to see how [they] compete” this year. Grant Caraway (Sr.) defensive tackle says that they “have a chance to make the playoffs for the first time in a very long time.”
For the Panthers, this season is highly anticipated. The 2024-25 Panthers are determined to be the culture change that the football program has desperately needed for a very long time.
