This year, Paschal’s finals are looking a little different…
Per the school-wide email, Paschal has decided to take up all school-issued devices EARLY during the week of May 13th.
MacBooks, Chromebooks, and any other devices/chargers will be collected during all social studies classes. Laptop cases and extra accessories that belong to FWISD are expected to be returned. Students need to make sure that their devices are clean and sticker-free! This will ensure a swift transition for all students and staff.
So, what does this mean for finals?
Many teachers have decided to assign projects that don’t require laptop use, allowing students to spend time on their finals without worrying about the time constraint that comes with the impending device turn-in date.
However, for seniors, more project finals mean fewer opportunities to be exempt, as Paschal allows seniors to opt out of final tests if they have a second-semester average of 85% or higher.
While this is true for many, some teachers have decided to still assign digital finals/projects. This means that students will have less time to complete their finals; they must get their projects done and turned in before their laptops get taken up during the week of May 13th.
Finals week will begin officially on Monday, May 20th; but many teachers are ahead of the game and have already assigned final projects for their students to complete before their devices are taken.
After finals, the last day of school will be Thursday, May 23rd!
Some things to keep in mind for finals week:
– Attendance counts every day for every class!
– Exams will NOT be administered early.
– Any students who miss an exam will be responsible for scheduling to make it up on May 26th before 10:00 AM.
– Finals count for 1/7th of the student’s OVERALL SEMESTER GRADE.
Good luck!
