Stranger Things is a science fiction and thriller TV series available on Netflix. The series takes place in Hawkins Indiana in the 1980s with a group of friends who encounter supernatural forces and monsters in their city. The first episode of the series aired on Netflix on July 15, 2016 and was produced by the Duffer Brothers.
The first season begins in November 1983 when Will Byers goes missing after leaving his friends house one night. Earlier that night the boys were playing their favorite game, Dungeons and Dragons, in the basement of Mike Wheeler’s house when Will Byers rolls his dice and the Demogorgon “gets him”, which he reveals to Mike as he gets on his bike to head home. As the first season progresses we are introduced to many new characters who are invested in finding Will Byers and destroying whatever took him.
We are introduced to Eleven, a young girl who has super natural powers due to scientific testing, Nancy and Steve, who are high schoolers invested in the destruction of the demogorgon, Jim, a cop who helps the friends retrieve Will, and Jonathan and Joyce, who are Will’s family members. As the season continues we watch as all of the characters develop as people and unite as one with each other.
The most recent season of Stranger Things, season 4, aired in two volumes, volume 1 being released May 27, 2022, and volume 2 on July 1, 2022. The most recent season was one that introduced new and more powerful forces. The friend group had split into groups to battle the new threat/villain, Vecna. Vecna had targeted many characters, but specifically Max Mayfield, he tormented her psychologically, and left her in a coma. The season comes to an end with the plan to defeat Vecna, which ends up being somewhat successful due to his physical body taking damage, but he escapes to the Upside Down at the last minute, setting a plot for the upcoming season.
As the final season is coming up, many people have many different theories, speculations, and predictions for the final season of Stranger Things. Platforms like TikTok, Reddit, X, and many others have a community of people who share their opinions and predictions such as who will die this season or how the show will end. Many other fans will ship characters on the show and romanticize the show’s atmosphere and characters. Paschal student, Clare Kennemer (11), has been a Stranger Things fan since the day the show aired and has made her own speculations, “some of my favorite characters are going to pass this season, but I don’t even want to mention that!”
With Season 5 airing in three separate volumes, Volume 1 (Episodes 1-4): November 26, 2025 Volume 2 (Episodes 5-7): December 25, 2025 Volume 3 (Episode 8 – Finale): December 31, 2025, rewatching or binging the series would make a perfect plan for the Paschal Panther students over the break!
