For decades, Paschal High School has been known for its school spirit in sports like football and basketball, soccer and volleyball. However, a different kind of team is emerging from students at Paschal: student-led bands.
Although sports remain a cornerstone of Panther pride, students are now beginning to form bands. Broad Daylight, a rock band made up of sophomores Finn Tobar and Miles Haliday, is the “Fan Favorite” band of Paschal, according to Stella Tubre(10). Stella claims to be their number 1 fan and stands by the opinion that watching her friends rock on stage is “just as, if not more exciting than watching a football game.”
When asked if they feel like a sports team, Miles and Finn both agreed that they do feel somewhat like a team, but not exactly for the school. Miles and Finn explained that they wanted to start a band because they “both love listening to music.” Finn added “we know other people do too, so why wouldn’t we share something with people that makes them happy?”
The band performs at local venues, often drawing fellow Paschal students to shows. When asked about who comes to their shows, Miles responded by saying “we get turnouts from Paschal kids. It’s cool to see people from school showing up.” Finn added on by saying “we also get students from other schools, usually friends of friends, and it’s cool to see rival schools connecting over something we created.”
In the end, the way our school’s music scene connects not just fellow panthers, but students in general, creates a very positive environment and opportunity for you to support your community.
