Arlington, Texas Six Flags Over Texas announced a new chaperone policy aimed at increasing safety and maintaining a family-friendly environment. Effective Friday, March 22, 2025, all guests that are 15 years old or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone 21 or older to remain in the park after 4:00 p.m.
Under the new policy, chaperones must present a valid government-issued photo ID and can accompany up to 10 minors. They are required to stay inside the park for the duration of their visit and be reachable by phone. Any guest 15 or younger found without a chaperone after the cut-off time will be removed from the park.
Six Flags Over Texas stated that the policy is part of its commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors. “Millions of guests have counted on us for a positive atmosphere, and we will continue to deliver on that promise,” the park’s announcement read.
The policy mirrors similar measures adopted by other amusement parks in response to safety concerns. While some parents and guests welcome the changes for the safety of minors, others question the impact on teen visitors who may now require additional planning to enjoy the park.
“The restrictions are not good because you can’t have a good time with your friends. Somebody gets onto you about every little thing you do, no matter if it’s good or bad.” 9th grader, Ryan Lira explains. “I went to six flags recently with my middle school but we didn’t have a chaperone and it was more eventful”
