Paschal Junior Owen Settle had a massive night in Game 1. He was pitching and hitting against North Side last Tuesday. Settle threw a complete game shutout, not allowing a run or a hit! On top of that, he struck out 11 batters on the same day. That’s not all, because he was also a hitter in that game, in which he hit a grand slam and a double, driving in 5 runs.
In Game 2, the Panthers won in an even more dominating fashion, winning 20-1. It is a great sight for the Panthers to see their bats get hot right before the postseason. Tex Shope (12) got another win on the mound, and Hudson Sharp (12) had a nice game going 3-4 with 5 RBI’s.
This Paschal team has a lot of experience, and if they were to make a nice playoff run, this year would be the one to do so. The Panthers have 12 seniors listed on the roster and 7 juniors, meaning most of these players have playoff experience from the past year.
Paschal’s amazing district play this year has earned them a spot in the playoffs. The Panthers still have to play one more district series against Poly Tech, but they have clinched a spot in the playoffs.
The Panthers are 3rd in their district, sitting behind Trimble Tech and Arlington Heights. The Panthers lost a game to each but will likely move up after this weekend because Trimble and Heights play each other in a highly anticipated series; the winner will most likely win the district.
Overall, Paschal has strived in their first year in 5A and they look forward to playing in the playoffs later on this season.
