The Panthers opened up the tournament on Thursday afternoon facing a tough L.D. Bell team. Mason Jung (10) pitched 3.1 innings in the game and allowed the only two runs for Bell on 6 hits. The game ended 2-2.
On Thursday evening, the Panthers faced TVS where they won big: 11-4. Jackson Dyer (12) got the win for the Panthers, pitching 4 innings and allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 5 strikeouts.
Paschal was back in action on Friday afternoon as they faced Greenbrier, a team from Arkansas. The game ended in a 5-5 tie with big games from Jung and Roman Jauregui (10), both hitting 2-4 with multiple RBIs.
Later that day, Paschal demolished Oakridge 13-4 with another great pitching performance by Tex Shope (12), throwing for 5 innings and allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and 5 strikeouts.
Saturday was the big game for the Panthers as they faced Arlington Heights at Heights. The weather played a major factor as it was cold and rainy, and the game had to eventually be called through 5 innings.
The game was tight the whole way through as Heights pulled out the win 2-1. Owen Settle (11) played a huge role in the game, pitching 4 innings, giving up 2 runs and throwing 7 strikeouts in the loss.
Although in the past this would be the only game the Panthers and the Yellowjackets would play all season, Paschal is now in the same district as Heights and will face them again in a 3-game series later on in the season.
Paschal senior Hudson Sharp was awarded the Drew Medford Scholarship for the Panthers on Saturday night. Coach Dunham wanted to give Sharp the scholarship because he is playing college baseball next year at Friends University, a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
The Drew Medford Scholarship is given to those who show similar characteristics to Drew Medford himself, who was humble, coachable, and an inspiring leader on the field and in daily life.
Overall, it was a very solid weekend for the Panthers, as they now sit at a record of 7-5-2 as they enter district play on March 11th against South Hills.
