The Paschal Swimming and Diving team made history as the boys secured the first Fort Worth regional win in 35 years with 287 points, beating Granbury by 58 points.
Regionals started February 7 during school in Mansfield, where Paschal was accompanied by 25 swimmers for the prelims. Friday was an amazing showing of Paschal’s swimmers and allowed the other schools to get a taste of what they would accomplish the next day during finals.
Saturday was a long and grueling day, but all 16 regional finalists worked incredibly hard and ended an over 3 decade long 1st place drought. The meet finished with Paschal boys taking the regionals crown along with the boys trophy.
This win wouldn’t have been possible without the following swimmers: Jackson Beck, Daniel Wilke, Harris Purcell, August East, Victoria Chandler, Eli Rodriguez, and Daniel Zimpelman. These 7 swimmers were all medalists during regionals finals and are actively preparing to go to state in Austin on February 21 and 22.
On top of regionals, everything this team has accomplished this year must absolutely be credited to Coach Harris, the incredibly dedicated coach of Paschal Swim. His hard work is so clear and purposeful, that the judges of regionals honored Coach Harris with the Coach of the Meet award during finals.
For everyone else, it’s now off season and the team is resting and recovering from the vigorous swim season they’ve had this year.
If you know any swimmers, definitely be sure to congratulate them for all they’ve been able to accomplish. This year has been the year for Paschal Aquatics and they’ve definitely earned the reputation.
