On December 3, I got an email from the College Board saying I could apply to do a dry run test in January to earn $50. I check my email frequently, so I found out right away. The tests offered for the Dry Run were AP Lang and AP Pre-Cal. I signed up for the AP Lang test as soon as possible so I could make sure I would be selected. The test was just to see how the exam would work online so that College Board could improve on what they needed to. It was also mentioned that the test wouldn’t be graded.
I got selected to take the test on December 19. To prepare to take the test, College Board emailed me to download Bluebook. I downloaded it on my personal computer because I couldn’t update it on my school computer without being on the school wifi.
I took the test on January 11 at 12:00pm. Right before the test I actually sprained my foot at a dance before. When I was taking the test I had my foot up with ice on it to help with the pain. I tried my best on the test considering the condition I was in. The test took about 3 hours. First there were 13 multiple choice questions with an article, then there were 3 essays.
About 2 hours after I took the test, I got emailed a survey. I shared what I liked about the test and what could be improved. I was told that I should receive my gift card in about two weeks. It was also good to get a feel for the AP lang exam before I take the real one.
On January 17, I got an email that it was time to claim my gift card. It was through Tango. I got to choose from many different brands. There were many categories of brands from gaming, food, beauty, clothes, and more, and I ended up choosing a Sephora gift card. My gift card was emailed to me and I spent it a few days later! I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to earn an award from taking an exam!
