The Paschal Boys’ basketball team is off to an impressive start to the season, holding an 8-3 record. The Panthers’ early success is a hopeful sign that they will make another playoff appearance at the end of the year.
The Panthers are led by senior guard Colton Patterson, hoping to have another great season as Paschal’s leading scorer. The Panthers are very experienced with eight seniors on the roster, meaning that most of them have had some sort of playoff experience.
Last year, the Panthers made it to the first round of the playoffs where they faced off against V.R. Eaton. They put up a great fight, only losing by single digits and staying within striking range all game.
This year the Panthers are striving for success in their new 5A district. Paschal has been well coached for many years now by Coach Summers and have made it into the playoffs in a very competitive 6A division with great teams like North Crowley and Trinity Euless. Paschal will be better than most of their competition in their division this year and look for a high seed once the playoffs arrive.
Recently, the Panthers played in a tournament down in San Antonio, Texas. Paschal faced off against teams outside of the DFW area for the first time in many seasons. The Panthers did very well in their tournament as they went 4-1 with their only loss to Harlingen South High School in Harlingen Texas, near South Padre.
Overall the Panthers look like a very good team so far that is well coached and experienced looking to make a playoff run in February.
