The 2024-25 Panther varsity volleyball team is getting ready for their district season. This year, the team has an unusually high number of underclassmen who bring new talent and hope to the program.
During the 2023-24 season, the Panthers went 7-7 during district play. When asking a former varsity player from last year’s team their thoughts on the season, Zoe Brown said, “I’d say we had a rocky start in the first round of district, but in the second round we all clicked going 6-2, but falling just short of our playoff spot. This year, I hope we start strong and secure our spot in the playoffs!”
The Panthers’ plan for this year is to dominate the district, but what is their secret weapon? When asked about the overwhelming percentage of underclassmen on the team, the upperclassman captain, Amelia Robbins, says “We are so excited [to] have a fresh group of talent and interest coming into the program this year. For the first time in 12 years we were able to have both an A and B team. As well as our Varsity team being half underclassmen. This gives a huge advantage for next year because these players will have high experience at the varsity level going into their sophomore or Junior years. As myself and the other senior captains are leaving this year we are excited to see the growth and success of the program pushed by the high numbers of younger players.”
The future of the volleyball program seems to be in good hands with the overwhelming number of underclassmen. Sophomore Georgia Ostransky says, “Going from having 8 seniors to a team of underclassmen is promising as most of these girls will be returning next year. I can’t wait to see what this team will bring this year and years to come!” The high hopes and great spirit are what the Panthers need in order to make district playoffs by making either 1st or 2nd place in the upcoming season.
With the 2024-25 season on the horizon, the Panther varsity volleyball team is brimming with confidence and determination. They are hungry to prove themselves this year indeed, and the amount of young talent has the Panthers eyeing a deep playoff run. If the team’s positive attitude and strong chemistry are any indication, the Panthers have reason to be excited about the volleyball program’s promising future.
