Stratton Whitworth is among the few students at Paschal to receive art scholarships for his upcoming graduation. He hopes to attend The University of Colorado Boulder, The University of California Santa Barbara, or the University of Texas at Austin.
Stratton received his scholarships from various workshops in the DFW area and plans to acquire more.
He draws artistic inspiration from his father and sister, and according to him, “No one is born an artist. It all stems from somewhere.”
His advice for other artists looking into scholarships and schools is to “be authentic with your work, and you’ll get into the right school and get the right scholarships.”
As a varsity soccer player and cross-country runner, Stratton has a lot on his plate, but he is determined to pursue art as a profession.
The Paschal NAHS sponsors are Mrs. Lopez, Mr. Crane, Mrs. Davis, and Mr. Flores. The art teachers are now reestablishing the organization at Paschal High School after the hiatus from the COVID-19 pandemic and fully intend to make this organization as similar to an art profession as possible.
The sponsors hope the organization will help students find an “Avenue to express themselves,” says Mrs. Lopez.
Currently, the members of NAHS are hand-picked by the sponsors, but during the 2nd semester, it will be application-based.
